Music in the cloud →
Music is one of the languages that I enjoy hearing the most. I am aware that my mood is often conditioned by the kind of music that I listen, so one can safely affirm that I am a music addict.

Last week I had a little chit-chat with Florin Grozea. He inspired me to create a dream related to music.I dream of enjoying and discovering music “in the cloud”. In layman’s terms, Music “in the cloud” means music available for listening on Internet with the help of a website.
From a certain perspective, there are a couple of services that can facilitate the fulfillment of my dream already, for free. Deezer, eOk, Grooveshark, Last.fm, Tunerec, these are just a few of them. What I really dream of is to enjoy and discover music in a space where:
- I can discover music in innovative ways, not just based on the songs that I listened in the past;
- Every song ever released is available;
- The sound quality of all songs is high;
- I can download the music that I want to take on my mp3 player while paying a moderate, fixed monthly subscription
I realize that the average music listening habit is pretty hard to support financially, so having all your music in the cloud is the future. The reason is very simple: listening to 1 hour of newly released songs everyday, means about 2000 songs a year. If you use iTunes to buy the music you’ll get to a cost of $2580 (that is $1.29 per song multiplied by 2000 songs). That means that one would have to pay $215 a month to listen to half an hour of newly released songs a day.
I am curious, how do you listen to music, where do you get it and what’s your dream when it comes to listening to music?
